Florida in Fall

While Florida doesn’t experience the huge fluctuation between seasons like the rest of the country, fall does offer us a bit of respite from the sweltering days of summer. This shift in temperatures usually signifies a surge in outdoor pursuits that are too hot to be enjoyed during a Florida summer.

Start a Garden – Florida gardening is unique because we tend to have moderate winters and plenty of rainfall. Fall is the perfect time to get outside and get your hands in the dirt. Many typically spring-time vegetables can be planted or replanted in the fall, including strawberries, tomatoes, beans, and squashes. It is also a good time to start planting herbs, butterfly gardens, and perennial and evergreen shrubs and plants.
Explore the Outdoors – Fall is also a great time to explore the natural beauty of North Florida has to offer. The weather is still finally cool enough to enjoy the beautiful parks and preserves in and around Flagler county but still warm enough to visit the areas many beaches, springs, lakes, and rivers. The area also boasts more than 200 identified species of birds and five of the seven species of sea turtles nest on our beaches.
Get Physical – Along with exploring the outdoors, Fall is a great time to start a new exercise routine. Flagler County offers over 125 miles of connecting trails for hiking and biking and a huge system of interconnecting fresh and saltwater canals for paddle boarding and kayaking. Palm Coast also hosts many endurance and family races during the fall months, most of which help raise funds for local clubs and charities
Enjoy a Festival  - Fall is also the season for outdoor festivals. From arts and music to heritage and heroes, Palm Coast offers an event for every interest.
Go Fishing – Another favorite Florida pastime is boating and fishing and what better time than Fall. As the weather cools, many larger fish migrate closer to shore to enjoy the warmer waters, and time on the water can be extended longer.
