Moving into Your New Home: 5-Steps to a Smooth Move

- Get to Know Your New Home – Before you move in, SeaGate Homes will conduct a New Homeowner Orientation, during which you will learn how all of your new appliances work, where to locate shut off valves for water and circuit breaker location among other importation information.
- Get To Know Your Neighborhood – You will also want to check out your new neighborhood before or when you move in. Make sure to note where the nearest fire station, police department and hospital are and collect their contact information. Don’t forget to meet your neighbors, maybe even host a house warming party once you are settled.
- Officially Change Your Address – Most people remember to fill out a Change of Address form with the post office and update their driver’s license, but don’t forget to notify all companies you do business with as well as doctors, banks, insurance providers, subscriptions and voter’s registration.
- Store Your Important Information – When unpacking make sure you gather all your important personal documents, including the new warranty and home documents, and find a safe place to store them. It is also good to keep anything you may need to “grab and go” in the same folder, safe or even storage bag in case of emergency.
- Relax – Moving can be stressful even if it goes smoothly. There is a lot to do and remember, so don’t forget to take time to relax and enjoy your new home.
